We brought the robot in with the WEBER solution and it really impacts the plant favorably in a lot of ways. It allowed us to consistently make the product, whereas before we had people that were assembling it.
The system is designed to have two systems where you can be running one product on one end while the other product is running on the other end. We can execute a changeover at any time. We can do work set-up and we can do work in process simultaneously. If you start running one product on one side you can switch over on the other side.
The two cells are designed to work simultaneously with the same product or different products. What this has allowed us to do is enable those people that had typically moved from one workcell to another workcell to try to cover demand on a day-to-day basis to be available to take care of a lot of other product families that we have a high demand for. We can isolate the workcell on the fabrication, and the items that we are making on the robot into one workcell and one person.
It allows us to do the work consistently. There are no stoppages, which helps our uptime. It's obviously great for our product delivery to our customers. And it allows our employees to focus specifically on value-added work all the time. As opposed to having to ask what might be needed of them.
