RSF or Flow Drilling Screws:
The exciting system developed by Weber in Germany in conjunction with Ejot fasteners has had a dramatic effect on the way automobiles are manufactured in Europe. With the advent of higher gas prices ( which are even higher in Europe than here ), and particularly with the predominance of light weight and sporty cars, aluminum has been the choice of materials used. Since aluminum can be more difficult to deal with, new and revolutionary fastening principles were called for. This is where Weber and Ejot stepped in.
Manufacturers like Lamborghini, Lotus, Audi and more have all seen the huge benefits to using the RSF or Flow drilling techniques to provide super stiff construction in a fraction of the time associated with conventional methods used in steel chassis production which is still so common here in North America.
The system uses an unique geometry in the fastener tip and precise feed and thrust characteristics developed to allow the materials to flow and form a boss which is effectively roll threaded during the cycle. This sequence of events generally only take 1.5 seconds and offers immense resistance to pull out and stripping by the fastener. The best part is that there is little or no requirement for material preparation and the joint is reusable having a high quality thread now formed in the metal structures. Most metals can be accommodated by this process.
